My mother Dorothy's brother, Philip, was killed on active service in 1942. He was 22 years old. He was buried in Dilhorne Churchyard with full military honours. Philip attended Dilhorne School and Longton High School. He began work at Stafford Coal and Iron in the surveying department, he left when he volunteered to join the Air Force.
