On the 1871 census George is living in Walcot, Bath, with his Uncle George and Aunt Mary Grove nee Thorley. He is working for George as a China and Glass Assistant. On the 1881 census he is a Railway Porter living at the home of Srarah Mills in Crompton, Oldham. He is back in Cheadle in 1887 to marry Sarah Plant. On the 9th of October 1929, George walked from his home in Cheadle and drowned himself in Black Bank Pool, Dilhorne.He was 74 years old.
