During the second world war Kathleen worked at the Rootes Aircraft Factory in Grindley Lane, Blythe Bridge where she was involved in the production of fighter planes.In later life Kathleen was the Chairman of Cheadle Parish Council, Staffordshire and she also became the first Town Mayor in 1973. She was a very talented embroiderer in her spare time.
