In the 1850's my 3 x great grandfather, Thomas, moved to Hanley, Stoke on Trent from Holywell, Flintshire, North Wales with his family. He was a Coal Miner. In 1872 Thomas was killed at the Botteslow Colliery, Stoke on Trent. The cause of his death was 'By a quantity of earth falling upon him'.
