Eric was a good friend of my grandfather Jack Burston. They went to cricket and football matches together. On one occasion Eric picked Jack up in his car to take him to watch Stoke City. They were running late so they sped off towards Caverswall. They came to a sharp bend where Jack fell out of the car and rolled into a ditch. He was unhurt and they both laughed all the way to the match. .
