James Edward was the son of Alfred James and Mary Ann Currie.He had a twin brother Elisha. James Edward went to live with his mother's sister Emma and her husband Elisha Coates during his infancy.He is on the 1891 and 1901 census with them. He died in 1940 aged 59 years. He is buried with his wife Minnie in the same grave as Elisha and Emma Coates in Cheadle Churchyard.
